After graduation, Tom started his career in the outer suburbs of Brisbane. At the end of his first year, Tom took up an offer to work for GMK Dental in Toowong. In 2000, Tom and his wife Caitlin moved to London on a working holiday for 18 months where Tom worked in a boutique practice most sought after by expatriates who appreciate quality dental care. Tom joined the Care Dental team (renamed Close Dental) in September 2004.
Tom is a registered specialist in Orthodontics having completed a Doctorate of Clinical Dentistry (Orthodontics) at the University of Queensland. Tom is a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontics, the Australian Dental Association and a certified member of the Australasian Orthodontic Board. Tom has undertaken further study to gain membership to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons as well as Membership in Orthodontics, Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has previously undertaken research involving the cause of impacted teeth in the roof of the mouth.
Tom diligently keeps up to date with the latest technologies and orthodontic treatment philosophies. He is passionate about providing the best practice treatment for all of his patients to ensure optimum results. His treatment plans are not just about getting his patients teeth straight; they are about improving lip and facial form while maintaining dental and gingival health.
He loves being an orthodontist – creating wonderful smiles for children and adults alike is his greatest professional reward. Providing personal attention to all his patients (and their families) is the ethos of his practice.
Tom & Caitlin have two daughters and a son. Phoebe, Amelia and George are delightful little scallywags. The couple are kept very busy and entertained. When Tom is not being an orthodontist he enjoys cycling, tennis, sailing and spending time with his family and friends.
