Dental Hygiene is about more than just preventing cavities. We take a comprehensive approach to Dental Hygiene, recognizing that maintaining strong healthy teeth and gums is part of an overall regimen to ensure your well-being.
Good Dental Hygiene practices not only make your teeth and gums feel fresh and vibrant; but also provide the basic foundation for lifelong health. Recent studies indicate that most adults will develop Gum Disease during their lifetime. Gum Disease is the result of plaque which attacks the gums, bones and other supporting structures of the teeth and in severe cases you can lose your teeth.
The best way to remove decay-causing plaque is by brushing and cleaning between your teeth each and every day. Brushing removes plaque from tooth surfaces whilst flossing or interdental cleaners remove plaque from in between teeth (areas where the toothbrush cannot reach). However, brushing and flossing is not enough! Removal of calculus (tartar) on a regular basis by our dental hygienist is essential to maintain a fresh healthy mouth.
